Greetings from the Presidentabout us

Welcome. I am Lee Soon-yeoul, President of the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation.
Yeoju is traversed by the Namhangang River, whose local stretch is affectionately known as the “Yeogang.” Along its waters lie golden fields and breathtaking landscapes of such beauty that even celebrated writers and poets of the past could not pass through without taking notice.
Throughout the four seasons, the Yeogang has bestowed abundance upon the region, embracing us warmly in the distinct colors of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The people of Yeoju established their communities along the river, which has served both as the foundation of their livelihoods and as a cherished place of leisure. Over the centuries, culture and the arts have flourished along its banks.
Yeoju's fertile land gave rise to a rich tradition of rice farming and harvest festivals that brought people together. It is also home to a thriving ceramic culture, the eternal resting place of King Sejong the Great, and the birthplace of Empress Myeongseong. These traditions and cultural legacies are why Yeoju is celebrated as a city where humanity and nature, culture and history live and breathe together.
Yeoju also boasts remarkable natural scenery unlike anything else in the Seoul metropolitan area. Its mountains and rivers offer residents of the greater capital region an exceptional place to relax, explore, and enjoy themselves without having to travel beyond Gyeonggi Province.
Just as Yeoju's culture developed naturally along its rivers and mountains, the Foundation continues to grow as a trusted companion to the people of Yeoju. Having cultivated a vibrant landscape of culture and the arts, we are now strengthening our expertise with the aim of establishing Yeoju as one of Korea's leading tourism destinations.
Just as small streams converge to form a mighty river, the Foundation will continue to advance cultural, artistic, and tourism initiatives for our citizens, one step at a time. Through these efforts, we will help Yeoju flourish as a leading city of culture and tourism.
Like the Yeogang, which reveals a different beauty from morning to evening and from spring to winter, the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation will move forward with the changing times and continue to share the beauty of Yeoju with all our citizens.
